Goop: Editor’s Review: Susurros del Corazón, an Intimate Beach Resort in Punta Mita

If you’ve traveled to Punta de Mita before, you may know it as a place for large family gatherings and that particular mass-resort vibe that’s great for relaxing and for ease but less so for charm. Susurros del Corazón, the Auberge property in Punta de Mita, is different. It feels more intimate. It’s still lovely for smaller family getaways, but it’s also nice for couples or an all-adult friends’ trip.

First Impressions

Upon arrival at Susurros del Corazón (which means “whispers of the heart”), you’re greeted as if you’re being welcomed home. There’s no check-in desk or lobby line to wait in for room keys and hotel details. Someone on staff takes you to your room or lunch or gives you a tour, whatever you feel like. Your cuate (buddy) is there to answer questions for the rest of your stay. (In general, the people who work at Susurros are chatty and fun and friendly and incredibly helpful.)

The arrival view is stunning: A cascading pool draws your eye down to where the ocean and sky meet. An indoor-outdoor patio area is filled with pieces by local artists. Nothing feels too grand or overwrought. The buildings are unassuming, and every space you can see feels casual, comfortable.
