Captivating design inspired by its setting

The Hearst Building, originally built in 1898 and home to the San Francisco Examiner until the 1960s, was the center of making and recording the news of the day.

Steeped in incredible history, the Spanish Revival-style building reflects the elegance of a time gone by with Tennessee Pink marble on the lower floors, and a terra cotta façade reaching to the roof parapet. Architect Julia Morgan’s famed entryway, with its ornate bronze medallions and signature crest, remains as inspiring today as ever.

Come drink, dine and be inspired at the confluence of where Old Media and New Media meet to create a dynamic gathering place. Following an extensive interior renovation and redesign, the 13-story landmarked building will open as The Hearst Hotel, complete with an Auberge Spa, grand lobby, social spaces, glittering rooftop bar and destination restaurant.

Conceptualized by the acclaimed creative team Roman and Williams, the design will nod to relaxed West Coast-living while harkening back to the publishing magnate’s obsession with collecting and eclectic European design. Architectural antiques from Hearst’s own collection of Spanish and English remnants will define The Hearst Hotel style.
