It was decidedly love at first sight for Sarah Kim and Charlie Harned—with their wedding venue, at least. Upon beginning their search for their wedding location, Wildflower Farms in Hudson Valley was immediately on the couple’s radar. “It was incredible. We were looking at a ton of different venues but when we arrived at Wildflower Farms, we looked at each other and knew this was going to be the one,” Sarah says of the back-to-nature upstate escape.
With the venue secured, the couple enlisted Nicole Risby of The Privilege is Mine to tackle wedding planning while the fashion stylist bride got started on the wedding wardrobe—curating looks for herself, Charlie, their bridal party, and guests that would fit into the mood and venue of each event throughout the wedding weekend. “Our venue had a lot of influence in what I ultimately ended up wearing.”
A Western-inspired BBQ was the perfect choice for their rehearsal dinner at Maplehouse, the property’s lofty indoor-outdoor event barn. Of course, Sarah and Charlie’s outfits were perfectly edited to the mountain landscape, down to his & hers cowboy boots. Hers, white suede Khaite paired with Danielle Frankel’s tulle Rosalie gown and his, Lucchese worn with an Italian goat suede suit by Officine Générale and Stetson hat. As a sentimental surprise, Sarah and Charlie led guests upstairs for an intimate Korean Paebaek ceremony before dinner. “We wore a version of traditional Hanbok dress to incorporate Korean traditions into our wedding in a more modern, casual way which our families really appreciated,” the bride shares.
On the morning of their nuptials, Sarah’s bridesmaids donned matching teal blue Morgan Lane pajama sets (that were intentionally chosen to compliment the vibrant greenery outside the Ridge Suite) during hair and makeup with artist Daria Riabova. Sarah walked down the floral-adorned aisle with her father in a timeless KHYA gown accessorized with jewelry from her sister, serving as her “something borrowed.” She met Charlie who was dressed in a black tuxedo by P. Johnson with tears in his eyes. Amidst the picturesque Shawangunk Mountains as they began their vows, it started to rain. “Thankfully, the summer shower stopped and there was this magical direct spotlight from the sun where the ceremony site was. We continued where we left off and it was beautiful.”
Guests were then escorted off to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while Sarah and Charlie posed for portraits with photographer Kelly Brown. The Marigold Porch became an ideal setting rain or shine, ”the team at Wildflower Farms understood our vision and worked really hard to make our dream come true, as I was hyper fixated on having an outdoor reception.” The bride and groom arrived in their second looks of the night—an off the shoulder, long sleeved silky Daniel Frankel dress and a white tuxedo jacket for the groom. Dreamy floral arrangements from Bloom Bloom Studio decorated the two communal tables. “Tasha Muresan, our florist, is a magician. She just got it and understood that she was adding to what already existed at the venue.”
Ever the fashion stylist, Sarah left no bridal look amiss when it came to the weekend’s wardrobe, which totaled six different looks—the pièce de résistance being an ethereal Khaite gown of embellished green tulle styled perfectly against The Green Room lounge for their DJ-ed afterparty. The following day, after an evening of nonstop celebration, Sarah relaxed in a cashmere set by Danielle Frankel and peep-toe La Perla heels as her and Charlie hosted brunch on The Great Porch and bid farewell to their guests.
