A deep connection with the land will allow you to experience many techniques that maximize sustainability, such as pickling, fermenting, aging, and dehydrating - creating a culinary tour of the region that will excite the senses. Served poolside, this effortless cuisine is fresh, appealing, and meant to be shared by the entire family. Punctuated by the occasional dinner, Picoteo's menu is inspired by the cuisine and ethos of food as adventure and wellbeing that is signature to Hacienda AltaGracia.

Mercado

The heart of the resort, this multi-function crossroads will keep you nourished and refreshed throughout the day. Offering easy access to snacks and beverages, coffee and pastries, the all-day continental-style menu utilizes local ingredients and is a welcoming space for curious minds.

Cienfuegos

The Best of Costa Rican Culture

This lively dinner experience spotlights a simple land and sea menu cooked over a dried coconut husk-based fire. Served with an array of accompaniments, including salads, grains, vegetables and fermented items from the larder, the cuisine takes inspiration from Korean BBQ.


Las Brisas

Offering a rotating menu that includes items from Picoteo and classic poolside favorites, the food at Las Brisas is perfect for enjoying a leisurely afternoon. The palapa bar serves beer, wine, and simple, fresh fruit juice-driven, aperitif-style cocktails for chaise lounge imbibing.

El Cultivo

The chef's garden at AltaGracia is a key component of the resort's holistic experience. Connecting with the land, which grows produce and herbs, creates a deeper understanding and appreciation of food and its provenance. The open-air kitchen plays host to a series of culinary and mixology workshops, celebrating indigenous Costa Rican ingredients. Cadence Featuring Chef Shenarri Freeman

Taste of Auberge, our resident culinary journey, continues with Cadence, New York’s trendy vegan restaurant with Southern soul, led by Chef Shenarri Freeman. Named one of the best new restaurants of 2021 by The New York Times, Cadence will collaborate with AltaGracia’s Executive Chefs Arno Janse van Rensburg and Liezl Odendaal July 7th - July 17th to deliver unique, plant-driven immersions. Guests can also experience a culinary demonstration spotlighting health and sustainability plus holistic wellness workshops.

The Modestos

April 9-17, 2022

Argentinian Chef Norberto Piattoni refined his craft at the renowned Restaurant Garzon, as head chef under Francis Mallman. Later relocating to the US, he has worked under the moniker ‘The Modestos’ since 2020 doing a series of charity pop-ups in New York and Los Angeles. AltaGracia will welcome Chef Norberto for a collaborative series of culinary events - including dinners, lunches and interactive guest experiences.
