Met off your international flight by a representative holding a wooden Hacienda AltaGracia sign, you will be taken to a private terminal to clear immigration and customs, while your luggage is collected on your behalf. Once all arrival procedures have been completed, you will be escorted to your onward transfer.

A transfer for true explorers, our scheduled group charter flight leaves daily from San José and lands directly on our hacienda airstrip.

One of the most active wildlife locations on Earth - and the best place to encounter the remarkable Bairds’s Tapir - access by boat allows you to arrive at the heart of the nature reserve. The terrain at the station is flat and the network of single trails is great for a couple of hours of discovery in search of all kinds of creatures. In the rolling foothills of Pérez Zeledón, Marvin’s Finca (or farm in English) sits on 50 acres of land, providing the majority of cacao and fresh pepper to the hacienda. Our experience at Marvin’s introduces you to the man behind the mission for a personal tour through his property. Not only home to cacao trees, Marvin’s finca hosts coffee trees, peppercorn plants, sugarcane, pataste (a white cacao) and a winding network of trails through forest and along streams. Walk down these scenic paths into the forest and back through the cacao orchards, seeing first hand how pepper grows and trying pataste straight from the tree. Stop in his processing and fermentation facility to learn about the process of changing cacao to chocolate and taste-test some of Marvin’s own creations.

Enjoy an immersive dinner, where you will be treated to not only a fantastic meal but also a traditional stable show. The restaurant sits alongside our Picadero, and dinner centers around a menu of land and sea cooked over fire. This open-fire cooking is central to the experience and part of the night’s spectacle. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:30pm, as dinner is served family style at 7:00pm alongside various choreographed riding events performed by our caballistas.
