• Considered part of the national folklore of Costa Rica, El Tope is a much anticipated event for lovers of horse riding. The tradition was born at the beginning of the 20th Century, when farmers would herd their cattle on horseback from one farm to another. The very Tico custom of El Tope has become an opportunity to showcase not only the beauty of the horses but also the skill of their riders.
